How do I add my own certificate type?

Name a certificate your company works with that is not among the standard types, such as a soil analysis or a buyer's quality protocol. It is then offered everywhere you pick a certificate type.

The standard certificate types (lab quality, mycotoxin and residue analyses, organic, phytosanitary, EUDR statement and more) are always offered. When your company works with a certificate that is not among them, such as a soil analysis by your own laboratory or a buyer's quality protocol, add it as your own type. Adding a type records nothing on the ledger and trusts no issuer.

Add a certificate type

  1. Open Certificates and choose the Certificate types tab.
  2. Select New certificate type.
  3. Enter the Name as your team calls it, for example "Soil analysis". It must be unique in your company.
  4. If you like, add the Issuing body (optional), the laboratory, certifier or program behind it, and What it certifies (optional).
  5. Check the Reference code shown under the form, then select Add certificate type.

Where your type is offered

Your type is listed after the standard ones wherever you pick a certificate type:

  • when you attach a certificate with Attach certificate;
  • in Certificate types it issues, when you add a lab or certifier in Parties;
  • when a lot rule requires a certificate, and when an automation attaches one.

Lists, lot pages and approvals show it by the name you gave it.

The reference code

Each type gets a Reference code made from the issuing body and the name, for example COMPANY:SOIL_ANALYSIS when no issuing body is given. It never changes once the type is added: it is what your lots record. To rename a type, archive it and add a new one.

Archive or restore a type

  1. In Certificates, open the Certificate types tab.
  2. Open the menu at the end of the type's row and select Archive, then confirm with Archive.

An archived type is no longer offered when you pick a certificate type. Certificates already attached keep its name. To offer it again, use Show to list the Archived types, open the menu at the end of its row and select Restore.

Issuers of your type

A lab or certifier still needs your owner's approval before its certificates of your type count, as for any standard type. See Trusted issuers.
